Vote For Tubbataha Reef As One Of The Seven Wonders Of The World

It was only this morning that I heard over the news that the world famous Philippine destination, the Tubbataha Reef is nominated to become one of the seven wonders of the world.

Tubbataha is a reef ecosystem made up of two atolls located in the middle of the Sulu Sea. It is a sanctuary for marine life. The reefs lie on the Cagayan Ridge, a line of extinct underwater volcanoes which starts from the north at the Sultana Shoal and it ends in the south at the San Miguel Islands. It is located 92 nautical miles southeast of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan and 80 nautical miles southwest of Cagayancillo, the municipality that exercises political jurisdiction over it. It was proclaimed as a National Marine Park on August 11, 1988 and inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage in 1993, in recognition of its outstanding universal value in terms of marine life species diversity and richness.

This is the only entry of the Philippines to the worlds prestigious search for new world wonders and a lot of your votes are needed for it to be included in the list.

I urged all Filipinos here and around the globe and all those who love Tubbataha’s beauty to vote and give chances for Tubbataha to make it to the top 21 finalist in the prestigious search for new world wonders. When voting, I suggest to vote for it as your first choice.

Other nominees like Chichen Itza of Mexico, Christ Redeemer of Brazil, Colosseum of Italy, Taj Mahal of India, Great Wall of China, Petra of Jordan and Machu Picchue of Peru already garnered one million votes to represent global heritage throughout history.

Tubbataha Reef is currently ranked No. 34, behind Ganges River of Bangladesh (No. 3), Mt Everest of Nepal (#4), Maldives (#12), Niagara Falls of Canada (#18), Bora Bora Island of French Polynesia (#23), Great Barrier Reef of Australia (#28) and Grand Canyon of USA (#31).

We all know that Tubbataha’s “underwater world of wonders” is one of best few places on earth and it’s worth voting for.
